Course Outline

To provide an understanding of the requirements of auditing and the various clauses of ISO 9001, and to qualify participants to conduct internal audits of management systems.

The first day of the Course provides an introduction to the concept of quality and outlines the evolution of quality management systems. The various types of typical management system documentation is discussed, including mandatory requirements and possible exclusions from ISO 9001.

The development of management system documentation is described, as are the various forms of documentation (e.g. Policy Statement, Policy Manual, work instructions and forms).

Continual improvement, nonconformance reporting, corrective and preventative action is also discussed in depth including root cause analysis, the PDCA cycle and clauses of ISO 9001. The steps for conducting an audit are then discussed at length and the first day concludes with a discussion of the purpose and types of audits, audit evidence and findings, audit teams and audit reports.

The second day specifically deals with the responsibilities and aptitudes of potential auditors and their impact on the selection of an audit team. Process based auditing and sampling is also discussed.

Communication techniques are examined, along with audit checklists, audit planning, the requirements for Entry and Exit Meetings, conduct of the audit and audit reporting.

Activities are conducted throughout the course, to gain a practical understanding and application of auditing methodologies, with the second day culminating in a mock audit role play which provides a practical forum for the utilization of knowledge gained throughout the course.

All participants receive a Certificate of Attendance or, on successful completion of the course activities and written examination, participants receive a Certificate of Attainment.

Failure to complete payment 14 days prior to course commencement, or to advise SC Training Centre of any issues with payment will be taken as withdrawal of enrolment.
